Engagment is tough.

I’ve been experimenting with some strategies to engage with audiences through social media. In particular, I’ve been leveraging some of the Chicago AMA’s social media sites to recruit speakers for an upcoming event on March 24. This includes the Facebook group, LinkedIn and MeetUp.

Results have been useful – two out of three speakers recruited so far – but a bit short of my hopes. The idea was to start recruiting a network of speaker recruiters. The responses I’ve gotten have been people promoting themselves, which is fine, but there’s not much room to grow from there.

I need to find some way to bring people in – maybe it’s more about personal invitations than it is about broadcasts.
